Access & timing

Untimed does not mean unlimited access

A countdown, an estimate, an optional challenge and an expiring key are four different clocks.

Publisher documentation · not a hands-on game reviewMaterial review · 2026-09-19

When you see a duration on a game page, ask what happens when that period ends. Does a countdown stop a mission? Is it merely a suggested challenge? Or does access to the purchased experience expire? These numbers should not share a single “playtime” column.

Four clocks to keep separate

ClockWhat it describesWhat it does not establish
CountdownA time mechanic inside a missionYour full evening including preparation.
Duration estimateHow long a session may takeA guaranteed finish or automatic timeout.
Optional challengeA goal players may set themselvesA compulsory software deadline.
Access windowHow long a key remains usablePersistent saving or permission for another event.

Enchambered’s key is shared by the pair

Together Apart, Together at Heart and Apart in Time document a key for two players with a 24-hour window after first use. Together at Heart and Apart in Time describe no built-in timer and suggest an optional 60–90-minute challenge. We do not turn that suggestion into a measured completion time. S03 · S04 · S05

The practical implication is to complete ordinary preparation before first using a paid key. Agree the two screens, the voice connection and who takes each view. Do not open an expiring experience the previous morning merely to explore the setup, then promise it will be available at tomorrow’s party.

That is a planning precaution, not a test of the seller’s activation system. The same key’s persistent-save behaviour, recovery after a closed tab, and extension after a connection failure have not been verified here. The selector therefore keeps a next-day-resume request unresolved for these records.

The catalogue also preserves a price discrepancy

The captured Together Apart page shows $5 minimum text and a purchase card from $5.60. The other two paid pages show $10 minimum text and cards from $10.60. This publication does not invent a tax or processing-fee explanation. All three numerical prices remain unset in our calculator presets until the reader supplies an actual quote. S03 · S04 · S05

A disagreement is useful information. It should not be hidden by choosing the lower number for a comparison headline or by averaging the two into a price the seller never offered.

Planning to stop halfway is a separate requirement

A game can be untimed and still lack a verified save feature. A paper-based story can support a section break without having any software save at all. The Reading of the Will specifically describes spreading sections across a weekend; Six to eight players, including the host: The Reading of the Will explains that limited example. Do not extrapolate it to every item with an approximate duration. S11

Use session-fit selector to make the requirement visible. Its “resume on another day” setting does not treat an unknown as a yes. If uninterrupted time is unavailable, choose based on the documented stopping arrangement or keep a different activity as the fallback.

Escape Team: free printouts do not unlock every mobile mission

Match the edition, the paper, and the app access before treating a mission as ready to play.

People & format

Six to eight players, including the host: The Reading of the Will

Count the participating organiser once. Then plan the private material and the people who must actually attend.

Access & timing

A download can still arrive later: plan before inviting everyone

Digital describes the material. “Ready tonight” depends on access, setup and the people who need it.

Less guesswork.
